Local app, chosen model
The app and Python runtime run on your Windows computer. Online tools and connected services still need the network, even when you use a local model.
When you select cloud inference, relevant messages and tool results are sent to that provider. Connected services and browsing can create additional data flows according to the task and connection.
Windows permissions
The app runs as the signed-in operating-system user. Ordinary Python is not sandboxed. Model-directed code and supported tools can read or modify files, run processes, use the network, and operate applications within the available permissions.
Tool controls do not create an operating-system security boundary around Python.
Use a clear task scope, appropriate sample resources, and recoverable copies of important materials. Inspect material changes before relying on them.
Choose the browser for the task
The current development version offers an embedded browser, a VARIANT-1-managed Chromium profile, and a personal-profile option. Personal mode requires you to choose a browser and profile; it works from a persistent managed copy.
That copy keeps its own state. Later changes in the source profile are not automatically synced into it. Discovering profiles does not select or copy one, and changing the default does not switch an existing chat’s browser choice.
Steer, queue, and stop
Steer gives a correction to the current task. Queue adds a message to run afterward. Stop requests cancellation of the current run.
Stopping may take time, and it does not undo a file change, sent message, or other action already completed. After an interruption, check what happened before repeating a step.
Review external changes
For a task that sends, publishes, or overwrites something, name the destination and the intended change. Ask for a preview when you want to review the result first.
Credentials and personal materials should stay out of publicly shared prompts, screenshots, or issue reports. Review the actual content you intend to share.
Your provider’s terms still apply
Your selected model route has its own data terms, usage charges, and limits. The free app download does not remove those conditions or provide a VARIANT-managed inference allowance.
